Brett Stenson was immediately drawn to Rwanda an his origin of choice. After much research, he presented this beautifully symbolic illustration of Rwanda's endangered Nestling Grey Crowned Cranes. Through the use of Rwandan pattern and Brett's ancient inspired drawing style, the cranes transformed into an artistic metaphor representing not only the birds, but also Rwanda.

5 QUESTIONS - BRETT STENSON
Quote that inspires you?
"We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever."
- Carl Sagan
Favorite place you have ever been?
The greatest place I have ever been has to be Iceland. I've never experienced a place so ruthlessly wild and beautiful in all of my life. The combination of fire and ice on that island creates a very dynamic landscape - something I highly suggest people witness for themselves.
What is the best thing you have ever eaten, and where were you?
This is a tough one! There are a few experiences I've had that stick in my mind, but I would say that my favorite has to be Ox here in Portland. I've never had a cut of meat quite like theirs, and it blows me away every time.
Something most people don't know about you?
Most people probably don't know I was born in Alaska, and lived in Minnesota, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Hawaii.
Any tips (aka pearls of wisdom) for small business owners/dreamers?
Be different. Embrace who you are, it's all that you've got. Don't just do what you know works all the time, step outside of the norm and stand out on your own. Sure, it's hard, but if it works, it will be that much more memorable.
